Policy:

Although it is important to keep the media apprised of incidents that are newsworthy, it is necessary to remember that many situations are sensitive and may need review of information released due to security reasons. All press conferences and information released to the media must be approved by the Team Commander.

A. Information fact sheets must be pre-approved.
B. A designated PIO will be appointed by the Team Commander or the Executive Officer.
C. Team members being interviewed by the media must notify DMAT Command Staff prior to the interview.

If any questions arise about information to release, it will be forwarded to DMAT Command Staff.
